Relevance of Indian Scriptures to Research Scholars
Dear All,
Invites you to a talk on
"Relevance of Indian Scriptures to Research Scholars" by
Sri K. V. Balakrishnan
Date and Time: 10th June 2011, 6 pm.
Venue: Choksi Hall
Abstract of the talk:
The term "Scriptures" refers to Vedas, Upanishads, Bhagavat Gita and epics like Ramayana and Mahabharatha. They have come down to us from ancient sages and seers who were great thinkers and who engaged themselves in constant spiritual enquiry. Quotations and episodes will be drawn from these works to highlight some of the characteristics and
qualities considered essential for the success of the present day
research scholar, like
(1) spirit of enquiry
(2) openness to new ideas
(3) developing productive and harmonious relationship with the teacher/guide
(4) developing a positive self-concept
(5) achieving excellence etc.
The purpose of the lecture will be to demonstrate how best the
pristine ideas from the scriptures could be used for enhancing the
effectiveness of the research scholar.
