Indian railway: Tatkal reservation rule

Indian railway has changed their Tatkal reservation rule. Now travelers can do reservation under Tatkal scheme just 24 hrs before only. Earlier this was 48 hrs.

The rule change is intended to defend the mis-utilization of Tatkal facility. Now the updated guidelines

* No refund for confirmed tickets
* While booking passengers have to submit a self attested copy of identity proof at the counter.
* Maximum four passengers are allowed in a single PNR number
* Booking starts from 8 AM , 24 hrs before the journey date.
* Wait list ticket will get refund as per the existing rules
* Refund of confirmed tickets will be entertained only in the cases of train diversion, late running, cancellation etc.
* Passengers have to carry the original of the same id proof which was submitted while booking the ticket.
* While booking through IRCTC online portal passengers have to enter the number of identity card, and the same to be carried while traveling.
* Agents will not be able to book Tatkal tickets between 8AM and 10AM

As the Tatkal reservation related complaints are increasing, Railway wants to implement strict action against the agents and defaulters. Ticket counters will be strictly monitored and inspected to stop the malpractice.
